Class of '25 P/K Ricardo Maldonado ready to showcase talent on ESPNU
Lehigh Acers, FL: Ricardo Maldonado has always wanted to play football on national television.
This September, the Class of 2025 place kicker and punter for Lehigh Lightning is going to get that chance, along with all his teammates.
The Lightning will take on Lake Gibson on September 9 at 8 p.m..EDT on ESPNU in front of a national audience, allowing Maldonado and many other players a chance to live out their dreams.
The Lehigh Acers, Florida team will get a chance to play against their state rivals, and Maldonado will have an opportunity to showcase his powerful foot and leg in primetime.
While he is a star on the field, Maldonado is also a stellar student: he has a 3.75 GPA heading into his sophomore academic year, and he is ready to boost that number up to a 4.0 in the coming semesters.
Here is a scouting report on the kicker:
“It is interesting to see which position he might end up better at when he is getting ready to look at schools in a few years. Both kickers and punters are in high demand if they are quality, and Maldonado is one that is very good at both. He has been working in the weight room to get some distance in his Kickoffs, Punts, and Field Goals. Ricardo has been kicking accurately from as far as 45 yards this summer.”
“Punting is a very underrated part of the game. If you can change field position, you can win games. I think it is even more important than kicking, although kickoffs are big as well. With the way defenses are, you can win games on field position alone, and Maldonado allows his team to do that.”
