NJ Football Toms River North Mariner ‘23 LB Josh Kaye Ready to Back Up Strong Junior Campaign
Toms River, NJ: While the 2021 football season might not have started on the best foot for Toms River North and Josh Kaye, its sure ended trending upwards.
North made a run all the way to the South Jersey, Group 5 title game, but fell in the final seconds to Kingsway 21-14.
But from 1-3 to the sectional title game in seven weeks was a feat that set the stage for 2022, and a big senior season for Kaye, who now gets a chance to build on 2021.
Kaye made First Team All-Junior, Second Team All-County, and Second Team All-Division Shore Conference last year, and has been working hard off the field to continue his success. He is 6-1, 230 pounds, and is currently benching close to 300 pounds and squatting over 450. Kaye has also posted a 4.7s time in the 5-10-5 shuttle.
As good as Kaye has been on the field, he has been even better in the Toms River North classrooms. He has a 4.75 GPA right now, and that may go even higher when his junior year grades settle in the next month. Kaye has already posted an 1100 on the SAT as well, to show that his hard work and intelligence is not limited to the classroom.
Kaye has received interest from multiple Ivy League institutions and at least one Division 1 Power Five school, and he should see more offers come in the coming months.

“Kaye is quick and is able to get off blocks on defense and make plays. You saw what this team was able to do later in the season last year, and I think he was a big key in that run. Kaye is going to be a force on that defense in the fall, as Toms River North continues to build another dominant team.
“He is going to get bigger and stronger in the offseason and the summer, and you know he works hard. He is also a very intelligent player. I know his coaches say that he learns plays very quickly and is easy to coach. I expect this to be a big campaign for Kaye, and Toms River North.”
