Power 5 Schools Already Gunnin’ for NJ Football Hun School Class of ‘26 OL Michael Gildea
Princeton, NJ: As the saying goes, the rich get richer.
Everyone knows Hun School Head Coach Todd Smith is an offensive line guru, and you only have to look at the list of past and present players that Smith has sent on to college from his time coaching football in New Jersey.
For the second year in a row, Smith has a ninth-grade student-athlete with Power 5 offers already on the table.
Michael Gildea is the latest star to head onto the Princeton campus, and the 6-5, 290-pound Class of 2026 15-year-old is going to learn from the best, and practice with and against the best, for the next four years. Gildea already has offers from Vanderbilt (SEC) and Boston College (ACC) and will undoubtedly find that number increasing at an exponential rate over the next year or two, as coaches watch him in the Hun School system. He has also been the captain at the Freshman All-American Game, so the word is out: Gildea is a leader on the field and is one of the best in the country.
Off the field, Gildea has been working in the offseason strength and conditioning program, which should see him bulk up and develop quickness each year. He is already very strong and will only get stronger as he is mentored by some of the highest-rated players in the country around him.
Gildea is also a very good student, which will be nurtured in the demanding Hun School academic environment.
Here is what one of his coaches said about him:
“You can already see the size of him as a freshman, and just look at the other kids that came in smaller than him and you can kind of make an educated guess at what he is going to look like after a few years in the program. He is going to be a monster. He is the future of the program.
“He is already very quick and strong, and that is going to get tested every day at practice for the next four years against D1 players. He is going to get very good, very quickly.”
