Rising Junior Connor Dietz Comes into Fall Off Record Breaking Season Under Center for Brick Memorial

Brick, NJ: It was pretty apparent early on in the 2021 New Jersey high school football season that Brick Memorial’s Connor Dietz was on track for a special campaign.

There might not have been many - though, that thought the dual-threat Class of 2024 star was going to post the individual numbers that he did.

Dietz, the 6’1”, 165-pound rising junior, was a varsity starter as a sophomore and had a beast of a campaign, racking up accolades such as Sophomore Player of the Year and number one quarterback in the entire Shore Conference. He was also broke a 31 year school record with the most scoring points of the season (130 points), four-time Player of the Week, listed in PrepRedzone's Top Running Back Performers, Shore Coaches Independence Division 1st Team, and made Asbury Park Press’ Shore Conference All-Shore 3rd Team. He ended the year with 1,353 yards rushing in 10 games for the Stallions, and ran for 18 scores. Dietz added 1,010 yards passing and five more TDs. Plus, Dietz was the only player in the 41 year history of the school to both rush and pass for over 1,000 yards.

Now, with a year in the strength and conditioning program, the goal is to raise the team up to his level: Brick Memorial was 3-7 last year, with four losses coming by a touchdown or less. It will not take a huge jump in performance to get the Mustangs galloping towards an over .500 record in 2022.

Off the field, Dietz had a 3.38 GPA before his sophomore year grades were complete, and just like his rushing total, that number should rise in 2022.

Here is what one coach said about the rising junior:

“He is strong, fast, and agile, with a great pocket presence and is just a tremendous athlete. Dietz is the type of player a coach builds a team around - he is hard to pressure because his scrambling ability is elite as is his arm on the run. This is a dual threat QB and a player that can really play anywhere on the field.

“This is going to be a pivotal year for him under center, and I can see him going well over 1,500 yards rushing and 2,500 yards combined. You would think that translates to more wins for the Mustangs.”
