BIG TIME '22 PLAYER, DELBARTON GREEN WAVE LG, SONNY MAMMARO, READY TO PLAY BIG TIME COMPETITION
ASBURY, NJ – Santino “Sonny” Mammaro was born to play the offensive line. Some yearn for the glory of the touchdowns while Mammaro desires to make those touchdowns possible.
Mammaro is a 245 lbs force in the trenches. A multi-level blocker on the run and rock solid in pass protection, he's reliable, selfless, determined, and strong. These are some of the words you can expect to hear spoken about the 2022 guard from the prestigious Delbarton school.
Mammaro and his Delbarton team already blew out Pope John 49-14 in week one, a game in which Mammaro was in charge of neutralizing Pope’s best defender. Sonny and Delbarton then took down perennial LI / New York State powerhouse St. Anthony's. Mammaro was a force in that game as well. He also dominated the line of scrimmage in his team’s matchup against the state’s best in Bergen Catholic. Delbarton faired better than anyone else thus far against the top 10 ranked powerhouse.
Sonny is no stranger to high level play since he has been blocking and battling division one players on his own team since his sophomore year.
“Sonny is super agile for a 245 pounder! He has a strong background in Rugby and is also an extremely talented boxer," said GoMVB analyst, Pat Marzo. "Those skills and footwork shine through on the football field. He's just more athletic than 90% of the defensive lineman and is as strong as anyone - a great combo."
Mammaro is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and attended the FCA camp at Lafayette College this past summer where he performed at a high level.
