NJ Class of 2025 RB/LB Matthew Lonczak Has Big Role to Play in Red Bank Catholic’s Football Title Defense
Freehold, NJ: Whenever a team wins a football state title, it is the culmination of years' worth of toil, not just a few months.
There are always players stepping in to fill gaps left by departing seniors, or from injuries sustained during the long campaign.
For Matthew Lonczak, 2022 is going to be a big season.
The rising sophomore plays multiple positions–running back, linebacker, and long snapper–for the defending New Jersey Non-Public B state champions and will get a chance to showcase his talent against one of the best schedules in the state in 2022.
Of course, because Lonczak can play on both sides of the ball and special teams, he becomes a valuable piece of the puzzle, as the Caseys try to fill in the gaps left by their departing state champion players.
Off the field, Lonczak has a 3.669 GPA, and that should go even higher when the grades for his first academic year settle.
Here is a scouting report on the player:
“You are not going to see anyone outwork this kid. He is about 5-10, 180 pounds, and he is a bulldog out there. Lonczak is one of those players you see as a freshman working in the weight room, and maybe you don’t see him for a while, then all of a sudden, he has put on 25 pounds of muscle and his 40 time is down two-tenths of a second. No one is going to outwork him.
“He is going to be important for the staff at RBC. Of course, the long snapper is always important, but they are going to need some depth in the squad at various positions. I think you will see Matthew playing a bigger part in what is one of the best programs in the state.”
