SJV Star LB Ryan Cawley Set to Have Breakout Junior Campaign in 2022

Hazlet, NJ: If you look at what Class of 2024 St. John Vianney linebacker Ryan Cawley has already been able to do in his short varsity career, you will know why there is so much hype around the rising junior.

Cawley was one of the key cogs on defense for the 3-7 Lancers, who lost four games by a touchdown or less and twice lost giving up only 14 points.

Cawley is going to be one of the players that is going to try to change that, on both sides of the ball. He is going to take some snaps as the running back, but it’s on the defensive side that he may very well be able to do the most damage.

In the offseason, Cawley has worked hard to add bulk to his 5-10, 180-pound frame. He is already benching nearly 300 pounds, and squatting nearly 400, so that should be no problem: he is projected to put 15-20 more pounds of muscle onto his frame in the next two years.

In the classroom, Cawley is even more of a superstar. He has a 4.2 GPA entering the final semester of his sophomore academic year, and that number is expected to keep rising along with his tackles on the field. He has what it takes to excel at the next level, and still has two years to improve.

Here is a scouting report on the player:

“You can already tell he is going to fill out and become a star. He is very smart, and always is in the right spot on the field. He is decisive: he does not hesitate out there. He makes up his mind, hits the hole, and makes a big play.

“He is quick. He has quick feet. This is going to be a breakout season for Ryan.”
